23 Aug Ashley River Bridge Replacement
LOCATION Ashley River, Rangiora, Canterbury • PRINCIPAL Waimakariri District Council • PROJECT DATES Dec 2013 to April 2015
Design and construction of a 300m long, 10 x 30m span bridge over the Ashely River. Permanent cased bored piles and approach works.
Quality Achievement: A CSL Project Quality Plan was produced and followed in accordance with our AS/NZS ISO9001 certification. There were no significant defects of remedial works required.
Budget Management: CSL offered an Alternative Tender which resulted in an 8% saving to WDC.
Time Management: The Alternative Tender required a re-design and an amended Building Consent. The full works were completed within the original 16 month Contract Period. The bridge was completed 6 months early due to CSL’s re-design of the structures and retaining walls reducing the earthworks settlement periods.
Health & Safety: Health and Safety Plan implemented and observed in accordance with the company’s secondary level Requirements for ACC WSMP. There were zero LTIs.
Traffic Management: A specific traffic management plan was produced to control the movement of site traffic and machinery for this project.
Environmental: CSL was committed to providing comprehensive Environmental Management throughout the project, with protection of the Ashley River always the highest concern. There were no environmental incidents on this project.
Public Relations & Cooperative team approach: CSL had a good rapport with the client, associated subcontractors and stakeholders. Work was well planned to minimize the impact on other operations within the site.
