Marine Parade Outfall and Viewing Platform

LOCATION Marine Parade Outfall and Viewing Platform    PRINCIPAL Napier City Council    PROJECT DATES August 2015 to November 2015

This project involved installing a new stormwater outfall from the city pipeline to a point close to the high tide mark to upgrade the city stormwater network and push water away from the city in flood events.  The viewing platform was built to support the outfall and connects to the foreshore walkway system to provide the public elevated access to the water’s edge and views of Hawkes Bay and back to the city.

The outfall won the Chorus Excellence Award for Best Practice in Infrastructure Management. “Judges praised the council for delivering an essential infrastructure project to such high quality, within budget and with a high level of community support”.

Our project manager oversaw all on-site works, and undertook liaison with designers and engineers to resolve challenges. All relevant health and safety, quality and environmental plans and systems were adhered to, which underpinned quality project delivery.

Quality: Project Quality was implemented and observed in accordance with the company’s AS/NZS ISO 9001:2015 Certification. There were no non-conformances recorded or remedial works were required.
